Pulse grenade is a roughly hexagonal device that was used as hand-held explosive during the Great Race War. Alongside other weapons, a number of them were secretly manufactured prior to the war and then distributed across Midgård at the onset of the Battle of the Midgård. The explosive was primed by pulling two halves of the chassis' away from each other. Three quick 'beeps' would then indicate an imminent explosion.
Due to a complex design, the original pulse grenades were used almost exclusively by the Matriarchate loyalists. Soon however, the other competing factions would begin producing their own variations.
History
Grenades were first used during the Battle of Midgård.
Valkyrie special forces use grenades to blow open an air shaft leading to a canine command post.

During one such round, she comes across an orphan, Zisa. Taaryn is given a temporary custody of the young sabre tiger. He later takes Zisa to an underground, run-down hypothermic laboratory to meet up with Skuld, again and is briefly scolded for being late.
Afterwards, while meeting with Matriarch again at her office, he is notified loss of communique to the feline's premiere aerial shipyard, Eternipiece. He offers to investigate it personally, but is rebuffed and ordered to focus on organizing the new feline military forces. At the surprise of Captain Taaryn, he is promoted to the military rank of Grand General. At the Matriarch's behest, he is later sent to a field trip with Zisa aboard her personal yacht, the Sleipnir. While initially indifferent to Taaryn, Zisa form a closer bond to him as a result.
Weeks later, General Taaryn arranges a demonstration of the current status of the newly-formed feline military forces, presenting Skuld series of vehicles and a a first combat-ready infantry battalion for her review.

Jarnvidr Iron Woods is Thyra's largest woodland realm. It is situated between the Spelheim desert and the Fensalir Evermire. Mostly populated by the Nagai snake-folk, the trees of Jarnvidr easily rise to the height of hundreds of meters. These massive trees create a nearly impenetrable barrier at its canopy, blocking most of sunlight.
The ground level of the great woods is overrun by roots and near perpetual darkness. This creates a perfect habitat for her multitude of predators. For this reason, the Nagai have built their dwellings either entirely underground or to the safety of the strong treeline branches.

Matriarchate Civil Forces are hastily organized militia teams. Originally, they were established during the opening of the Battle of Midgård. These loose formations were created as an interim solution towards an organized military, and to flood the city with armed loyalists. Due to this upbringing, the militias lack any formal combat training. However, they are still eager combatants and should not be underestimated.
Matriarchate Civil Forces gear is a mix of different garbs. For instance, these include protective vests, street wear and headgear. The militia lacks standard weapons and as such, they tend to use what is readily available. In addition, they are supplied from the weapon caches hidden throughout Midgård. In other words, hidden inside the unsealed medical capsules.
